Le Procope - history and good food in Paris

Le Procope - history and good food in ParisOn the recommendation of several people, the Café Procope reached us. The history of Paris fascinates me. I'm writing a post just about the Carnavalet and the Catacombs that best tell about the history of this capital.
While the post about history is not ready, I'd rather write about food that is the best part of the trip for many. Eat well, take advantage to know a place where there were many important events in history and pay what fits your budget travel can be a challenge.
The Procope coffee, which has existed since 1686, was the meeting point of the greats of the arts as La Fontaine, Voltaire, Rousseau, Beaumarchais,
Balzac, Hugo, Verlaine. They were frequent visitors of the restaurant.

During the 18th century, it was home of liberal ideas and also the history of the Encyclopedia (anyone remember before the advent of the encyclopedia "Wikipedia"?). The meetings of Robespierre, Danton and Marat to discuss the Revolution were made there. Until Bonaparte left a hat at Le Procope which is on display at the entrance of the restaurant left.

The wine list is also quite varied: affordable wines to very, very expensive wines. When the request is made, you can ask the waiter what he recommends wine to accompany the dish and they give certeiras tips for every occasion.
To improve further, until they have menus in PORTUGUESE! And all the people who cared for us English speakers.
Options abound for those who want to know the place. Since eating a snack in the late morning or a sophisticated dinner later in the day.
I went with my mother. We did not reserve, although some people have suggested to us. We arrived at a time of high motion, sat in a room waiting for a table. The maitre soon called in and sat at a table in the window.
We ordered the same dishes. To ask one entry onion soup, also known as gratinée à l'oignon "Odeon" .A soup was delicious and the end of it we realized that just soup was great to eat at night. But we had already ordered the main course and wanted to know the dishes of the house.

When we were amazed at all the dessert arrived. We ordered the tiramisu home. The waiter comes and asks if we want a normal piece or a large piece. Asked a normal piece (still wonder what would be a large piece).
